church...
Usually i go to First Presbyterian Jackson on Sundays, but today I went with some of the soccer girls to Church of the Highlands in Ridgeland. It was very fun to experience a new environment. It was so different from the Presbyterian Church in Jackson, and from the one in my hometown. It was so neat though to see how the Lord moves in so many different environments. It was so apparent that He was there. The Lord is so amazing and unfathomable. I had a conversation today with a friend about that. About how we can not/do not always understand the Lord and his plan. So I started thinking, how would it be if i could understand the Lord. Well I could understand Him he wouldn't be who He says He is. That is what makes the Lord so amazing. We cant put him in a box, He's undefinable! We need to stop minimizing God and just enjoy him for his perfection and excellence.

I absolutely agree with you about the minimizing God comment. I think so many times we try to limit Him as to what he can do; when in reality, He has no limits. He can do everything. I've never really thought about it like that, and it's a really cool interpretation :)
I have definitely had realizations similar to yours before, if not all the time! Every time I try to put Him in a box, He shows up in a big way, completely overwhelming me with His magnitude. I am still looking for a church, so I might try to visit Church of the Highlands now!
Girl, I am right there with you. It is sad how people limit the Almighty. It is almost like they have a certain idea of who they think He is supposed to be and anyone who says anything differently is just wrong. He does show up in different ways. Gosh, that is just too sad to me. I am glad you have an open mind, and can see how He moves in different ways to different people. Everyone worships in their own way.
It's impossible for us a humans to completely understand God. He is so big, so wonderful, and so good that we cannot ever possibly know him enough. That is one thing that is so awesome about being a christian! If we follow and seek him throughout our whole life time, we will still have so much more to learn. There isnt a limit to God! We will never completely understand him, but I , for one, want to get as close to knowing him as I can.
i love how awestruck you seem to be with who God is, that is really encouraging, and I completely agree with not putting God in a box. BUT, i think we need to clarify that though we cannot know God fully, we can know Him truly, or accurately. What I mean is that though we will never understand everything about God, we can understand a lot of things about God, and the things we he has given us to know about him, we can know with complete certainty. That is why He gave us a huge book about himself- so that we can know him, accurately. I just feel like a lot of people use the fact that God is to big to be understood as a cop-out when it comes to studying theology.
hey girlie...that is definately touching, deep, and true. It is so good when people can express their devotion the lord and not limit their faith in him. I believe that by you writing this, you have actually made a few people look at it from a different perspective.
Wow. I know what you mean about different types of people all being effected by god. I just visited a Pentecostal Church the other day and they all seem so moved by him, but in a completly different way than he moves baptist. lol.
How profound! I think it is so amazing when you have a moment like that and you will probably never forget. Let that understanding of God's limitless transform your thinking and your life. God has no limits...and neither do you when you follow after His heart :)
I love that you have gotten out there and are visiting different churches. I know that last year I spent most of the year at different churches and it does show you a lot of different facets to the Church and to God. If you only go to one church your whole life you miss a lot of chances to see outide of your culture. It shows you more and more of who God is but also shows you how big and awesome He is, so much that you could never fully fathom who He is or what He does and thats the cool part. Keep growing closer to Him!
My mom told me once told me that when we let God be God, when we fully allow God to work through us (most of the time in ways we could never imagine), we will grow the most. Our relationship with Christ will grow the most.
That is what's awesome about God. He knows exactly what we want, even when we think that we know what we want. We can not put Him in a box.
Great post. =D
You are exaclty right! I couldnt agree more! And your writing shows that you really believe it too!
